Computer Science Graduate Student Newletter Number 1995-02 February 15, 1995 =============================================================== New Lecturer Join COSC The Department of Computer Science welcomes a new lecturer this semester. Dr. Mircea Draghicescu is teaching COSC 4310 (Languages and Compilers) this Spring. He is currently an NSF Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Texas Center for Advanced Molecular Computation at UH. Dr. Draghicescu received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Bucharest, Romania in 1978. He completed his Computer Science Ph.D. degree at Pennsylvania State University in 1990. He taught at the University of Massachusetts at Boston and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor between 1990 and 1993. Dr. Draghicescu's areas of interests include programming languages, functional and logic programming, parallel programming, and scientific computation. He can be reached at mircea@sina.tcamc.uh.edu. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Ph.D. Qualifying Examination Results The results of the Fall 1994 qualifying examinations is now available. Mr. Chien-Chi Lin and Mr. Terry Clark successfully completed the qualifying process and became Ph.D. candidates. They deserve our congratulations.
