Previous Conferences
The Software Engineering Conference (SEC) is a two day event, held in the Flamingo Room #275 in the Hilton Hotel at the University of Houston Main Campus on October 19th and 20th, 2007. The SEC is a gathering of speakers from the industry and academics in Houston and around the country, to provide discussions regarding various issues and topics related to software engineering. The conference also includes an expert panel discussion offering the opportunity to interact with speakers and presenters.
The SEC is organized by CougarCS, computer science student organization at the University of students, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Houston.
A few of the speakers are:
- Vali Ali, Distinguished Technologist at Hewlett Packard
- Sridhar Vajapey, VP of Technology, Validation and Test at Sun Microsystems, Inc.
- Ben Galbraith, CEO of Feature50
- Jon Schwartz, Founder of The Phrogram Company

The SEC is free of admissions, and free to the public. However, registration for this event is mandatory.

- University of Houston Third Annual Workshop on Interdisciplinary Computational Science
- The Computer Science Department will host the Workshop on Information Assurance
Education on Friday April 21 and the SCISS 2006 Symposium on Saturday April 22.
External speakers on Friday are: Prof. R. Sekar of SUNY Stony Brook, Prof. D. Wallach of Rice
University and Prof. W. Winsborough of UT San Antonio. Registration is free.
