The Baker Institute at Rice University is searching for a Research Programmer. The Research Programmer will be responsible for programming and statistical analysis of large medical record and health insurance claims databases, as well as population-based health surveys for the Baker Institute health policy program. Duties to include, but are not limited to, preparing raw data files for analysis on a PC platform, including complex multiple dataset merges, data file reshaping, interpretation of accompanying documentation, and definition of study variables. Multivariate regression analysis of databases using SAS and Stata. Assisting in the writing of manuscripts and policy briefs based on statistical analyses and providing research assistance in the preparation of new grant proposals.
Requires: Master’s Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics or other discipline; training in regression analysis and programming; and at least two years programming with SAS. Must be familiar with PC platform and Microsoft Office software.
Prefers: Experience with programming with Stata; experience with analysis of population-based health care databases, longitudinal panel data analysis and limited dependent variable regressions, background in health care related field or public policy analysis.
