The Kinkaid School currently has an opening for a System Administrator. The System Administrator is responsible for maintaining the servers and networking equipment for the school. Responsibilities include provisioning system builds, monitoring systems, automating processes, patching and upgrading, troubleshooting, ensuring system backups are current and that systems are recoverable, and other service requests. Additionally, the System Administrator designs, and implements technical solutions to enhance school systems. Other duties include working with a team to define and coordinate vendor purchase requirements and providing technical documentation.
Requirements for this position include:
- Must have 3 years experience working in a multi-platform environment.
- Must be proficient in managing OSX, Linux (Red Hat), and Windows servers
- Must have a strong understanding of networking.
- Must have experience with a stateful firewall.
- Must have in-depth knowledge about disk management, backup and recovery.
- Must have experience in integrating platform environments (Mac/Windows).
- Must be familiar with process, performance, and security monitoring.
- Must have in-depth knowledge about system automation.
- Experience with installing and configuring Apache.
- Must be familiar with OpenLDAP and Kerberos.
- Must be extremely familiar with SMTP and mail services.
- Must be extremely familiar with DNS (BIND).
- Must be familiar with RADIUS and Wireless Security.
- Solid understanding of HTTP and SSL/TLS, including certificate management.
- Programming/scripting skills in Unix shell, perl, php, python, and DBI/SQL interfaces (MySQL/MSSQL).
- Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills with demonstrated commitment to producing high quality documentation.
- Must be able to work well with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
- Willingness to provide off-hours on-call support and work off-hours as necessary.
The Kinkaid School is a nonsectarian college preparatory day school, enrolling about 1350 boys and girls in grades pre-kindergarten through twelve.
