Job Description


Data Analyst - Two Sigma Houston

Salary Range $40,000-50,000 (+3 weeks vacation and benefits).


Data Analysts apply advanced analytic and computer skills to a variety of projects and tasks related to our global trading businesses. The position is for the Core Data group, which is responsible for bringing in and processing massive amounts of trade data for thousands of different tradable instruments (Stocks, Bonds, Futures Contracts, commodities, etc). These are very complex processes, involving manual and programmatic steps, research, and coordination with others.


A typical day might include:


Reading, understanding, running and troubleshooting Unix scripts or Java programs.

Using SQL to investigate issues in our SQL Server database.

Using Excel to investigate or report on issues.

Talking to other coworkers to understand what caused a problem, how to fix it, and how to keep it from happening again.

Using the internet or a Bloomberg terminal to investigate questionable financial data.

Updating or creating process documentation on our company WIKI.


Required skills:

Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)

Basic UNIX command-line skills

Basic Excel skills

Ability to read and follow instructions to work through a business process.

College degree required


Extra skills in order of value:

Unix shell scripting

SQL skills

Java programming

Crystal reports


Financial experience NOT required.
