Power/Bandwidth-Limited Communication in
Wireless
Systems/Devices
Abstract
Mobile wireless systems/devices have exploded
in popularity and fundamentally streamlined our daily life. Mobile wireless communication is one of the
most exciting topics because of the fact that it is capable of providing
instant connectivity and high-speed data services to mobile users anytime and
anywhere. Our research focused on powder/bandwidth-limited communication
in wireless systems/devices. The research goal was to reduce power/bandwidth
usage while ensure data consistency. Two general main memory page replacement
policies: Least-Recently-Used (LRU) policy and First-In-First-Out (FIFO)
policy, were used and designed specifically for wireless Web applications. They
were applied to perform communication management between the portable mobile
devices and the central site (base station). The policies are applicable to
base station or the mobile devices.
The simulation results show the conditions when
the paging policies can be used to achieve lower missing ratio in wireless Web
access. The research is demonstrated to be a contribution to real-time mobile
wireless communication systems/devices.
