Design and Implementation of EZ-Grid Information Server
Abstract
EZ-Grid is a stand-alone Java Swing-based graphical
user interface for use in a Grid environment. It is designed to act as a
high-level job submission tool that utilizes Globus toolkit to achieve Grid
tasks. EZ-Grid contains a broker system or a grid metascheduler that identifies
suitable resources to submit grid jobs. Information about status of grid
resources is vital to make correct scheduling decisions. Current grid-based
information systems fall short in providing all the information required
by the EZ-Grid broker. Any grid information provider does not provide information
on queues or other dynamic attributes of a remote resource. EZ-Grid information
system is designed to complement these existing information systems by acting
as a new source for information. It is currently designed store and retrieve
information such as grid job submission history, dynamic and static resource
information and applications on the remote resource. Information is stored
as XML files to mimic a directory information tree structure. Apart from
acting as an information provider, EZ-Grid system also offers a grid resource
discovery service, wherein active information servers are located in real-time.
