On-Line Legal Teaching Assistant

Abstract

Online teaching system has been applied in various areas, and legal field is one of them. There are different online education systems in legal field, either homegrown or commercially available. However, most of these systems simply apply online technology to legal field, and do not give enough attention to some aspects specific to legal studies.

This thesis develops an online legal teaching assistance tool to provide both professor and student with more assistance from online technologies. In addition to the features in most of current online teaching systems, this system also provides legal students with a basic rule-based case analyzer to improve their analysis skills. This application also uses some new technologies, such as EJB, voice transfer, which make the application more scalable and extensible while rule-based sub-system allows the application to work better in the field of legal education.
