This is a suggested format for your thesis or dissertation defense announcement. Prepare the announcement on letter size paper (8.5 in x 11 in), on one side only. Use Georgia, Times New Roman, or an equivalent serif font with the size of 12 points throughout the page. There should be a one-inch margin on all sides of the announcement. The abstract should be single spaced and justified on the right. The length of the abstract should be between 100 and 200 words. If there are spaces left, distribute them among various sections of the announcement (e.g., the space between the title and abstract or between the student's name and the title) so that the page is filled.

If your announcement deviates from the suggested format too much, you may be asked to submit a revised copy. If, for unforeseeable reasons, you have to change the date and/or time of the defense, it will be treated as a new request. On the second announcement, please mark "***Revised***" clearly on top of the page.

For the web version of your announcement, use this html page, and leave the formatting intact. Do not use Word or other such applications, as they tend to change the formatting.
