The Imagine Cup Competition is in its second round, and the UH Department of Computer Science has four of its own, Wesley Barta (Sr.) , Richard Giliam (Sr.), Jonathan Green (Sr.) and Sami Larbi (Gr.), all of Team Awesome, competing to make history and the chance to travel to Paris, France to vie for the coveted gaming championship. Another UH Computer Science team, Team CougarX, who competed throughout the first round did a stellar job of representing the University of Houston with its members, Jose Baez-Franceschi, Chang Yun, and Dan Bidieger. These teams are competing in the ultimate test of their creative and technical skills, constructing entertaining games and software focused on the message of creating a sustainable environment. If selected to move on to the third round finals, Team Awesome will compete in Paris from July 3-8, 2008. The Microsoft sponsored competition will award 1st place winners a total of $25,000, 2nd place $15,000, and 3rd $10,000, as well as the chance to gain international exposure for their games. Let’s congratulate our teams for their hard work and creativity and wish Team Awesome the best in working to reach the last round!
