Dr. Jaspal Subhlok, Dr Edgar Gabriel and Dr. Rong Zheng, along with Dr. David Anderson at UC Berkeley Space Sciences Laboratory, have received new funding to advance research that aims to convert idle desktops into virtual clusters for inexpensive scientific supercomputing. Their research proposal titled "VOLPEX: A Framework for Parallel Execution on Volatile Nodes" was awarded $330K over 2 years by the National Science Foundation.
