Open House and Software Engineering Conference Successful!

• The Department of Computer Science and CougarCS, the computer science student club, sponsored two outstanding outreach events during the Fall 2007 semester. A two-day Software Engineering Conference was organized by CougarCS and attracted almost 200 registrants from local business and industry, the University of Houston, and other area colleges. The conference took place October 19 and 20 at the Hilton's University of Houston.
  
  The Second Annual COSC Open House, October 20, hosted another 160+ visitors from area high schools and the community. The event featured 20 booths throughout the Philip G. Hoffman building staffed by graduate students and faculty demonstrating current research projects. Highlights included a programming contest for high school students and a poster contest for UH computer science students with prizes to make the competition interesting.
